Summary
A two-part workshop for people whose day is writing, editing and reviewing, built on your own documents and style guide. The first session lays the foundations and the rules, and the second is almost entirely practical, working through editorial use cases before moving on to personas and agents. You finish able to draft, edit, summarise and re-tone documents with AI while keeping editorial control, applying your house style the same way every time.
Course breakdown
Foundations & Responsible use
The evolution of AI, what a large language model is and how to avoid hallucinations. Responsible use with chatbots against Microsoft 365 Copilot, the Microsoft Graph, staff guidelines, data protection and ethics.
Copilot Chat & Copilot in Word
Finding Copilot Chat, its interface, Work Mode and Web Mode, Pages and Canvas, with a blog drafted in Canvas from rough notes. Copilot in Word to draft, ground, rewrite and re-tone, visualise content, and write an executive summary in Edit Mode.
Prompting
Prompting through practice: the four essential parts of a prompt, the four questions, golden tips and ten best practices, how generative AI reads prompts, and summarising text and documents.
Editorial Workflows & Templates
Prompt libraries for repeated tasks, the limits of design and templates, template filling and tracking changes. Editing a report against a house style guide, content tagging, metadata and titling, stakeholder communications, meeting minutes from a transcript, and presentation content with speaker notes.
Personalisation & AI Agents
Custom instructions, traits and memory, and when to use which. From repeated tasks to agents: contextual prompting, persona design, social media posts with a human in the loop, meta prompting, a prompt improving agent, grounded Q&A from a document and an HR policy assistant agent.
