Course breakdown
Introduction to Generative AI
In-depth explanation of the core terms and the technical workings behind Generative AI: what AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Generative AI are, what Large Language Models are and how they operate, how they create hallucinations and how to work with that in mind. A showcase of the AI models currently on the market.
Privacy & Responsible AI use
How to work safely in your organisation with internal and external tools. The rules for third-party applications, your organisation’s own guidelines and how it sees AI use, labels and copyright, and where AI regulation is heading next.
AI Chatbots
A tour of the leading chatbots, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Mistral Le Chat, Perplexity and Grok, and the features that set each one apart. Hands-on time getting to know them, and which EU-approved tools are available to you today.
Prompt Engineering
All about prompts and how to write them: the building blocks of a good prompt, the most common mistakes, and techniques for reliable, usable results in day-to-day tasks such as structured text, emails, and blogs and articles.
Summarisation
Techniques and tools for summarising long documents, reports and recordings accurately. How to steer the length and focus of a summary, and how to check the result against the source.
Prompt to flow Engineering
Turning a good prompt into a reusable template, so the same task runs the same way every time with only the new details swapped in.
Further Practical Sessions
Hands-on use cases from real work: turning a meeting into minutes, writing up an event report, and building a full slide deck with AI.
What you leave with
After the course, you'll be able to:
- Write prompts for day-to-day tasks: structured text, meeting minutes, blogs, emails and summarisation
- Turn a single prompt into a working, repeatable process
- Build and use a simple AI agent, starting from a blog generator
- Know what generative AI and a large language model are, why AI sometimes gets things wrong, and which chatbot to use for what
